The Entomological Society of New South Wales

AES Annual conference 2020

Welcome.

The Entomological Society of New South Wales Inc. welcomes all persons, institutions and corporate sponsors, amateur or professional; who have an interest in insects or associated invertebrates.

Since its formation in 1953 the Society has maintained a commitment to the promotion of entomology and the dissemination of entomological knowledge through workshops, meetings, field trips, newsletters and peer reviewed papers published in its journal ‘General and Applied Entomology (G&AE)’

The Society’s professional standards and values reflect its origins, first with the Australian Museum, Sydney and subsequent NSW’s State Agricultural departments and Tertiary Education institutions.

Its journal’s (G&AE) peer reviewed papers generally focus on ‘Applied or ‘Taxonomic’ Entomological subjects together with book reviews on Invertebrate topics and Entomologists’ professional and historical profiles.

Members receive a free hard copy of the Journal, which is generally one volume per year and a digital Newsletters (Tarsus), at irregular intervals (which outline activities, meetings, links and member contributed articles and photos); emailed items of general interest and access to the ‘Member Only’ parts of the society website, www.entsocnsw.org.au.

Members and visitors are welcome to attend the Society’s meetings which are held on an ad hoc basis, notified on the Society web site and by email to members.  Meetings provide an excellent opportunity to meet other entomologists and students and discuss mutual interests in a friendly atmosphere.

The Society’s ‘Ted Taylor Prize’ commenced in 2020, is awarded to the winning student once per year (see awards tab).
